Limerick Choral Union mark 50 years of singing with huge show (Limerick Leader)

LIMERICK Choral Union will celebrate 50 years singing by staging one of the largest national choral performances of the year this weekend.

The 116-strong choir and accompanying symphony orchestra - under the baton of conducter Malcolm Green - will host Galway Choral Association, choirs from Villiers and Scoil Ide and invited soloists for a special concert this Sunday in the UCH.

Choral Arts Society performs Bach’s Mass in B Minor at Kennedy Center (Patrick Rucker)

The Choral Arts Society inaugurated its 50th-anniversary season Sunday afternoon at the Kennedy Center with a performance of Bach’s mighty Mass in B Minor, conducted by artistic director Scott Tucker. It was the fifth time since 1971 that the group has performed the work in Washington and offered further evidence that this Bach masterpiece is a crowning achievement of Western civilization.
