It was indeed a record-breaking achievement at the prestigious Royal Festival Hall of the world-famous Arts centre, Southbank Centre, London on Sunday 5th of May 2013 at the Celebrity Concert hosted by the London Community Gospel Choir(LCGC). The Concert was part of the LCGC 30 Choir Festival that took place from 4 to 6 May 2013 to mark their 30th anniversary.
Breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Gospel Choir in a Concert was one of the 30 Goals set by the LCGC to mark their 30 year anniversary. More after the cut.....
The songs scheduled for the Guinness World Record challenge were the very popular 'O Happy Day' and LCGC's Anniversary single 'Keep Moving'.
As a climax to the Celebrity Concert which featured soul star Jocelyn Brown and XFactor finalist Jahmene Douglas, Joy Singers Choir (Italy), Harmony Gospel Choir (Manchester University) and 2020 (youth choir, London), 1,169 voices from 30 choirs performed, thus setting a new Guinness World Record.
