Christmas Carols – parte 3 O TANNENBAUM __________________________________ Este é um Carol de origem alemã baseado numa canção folclórica da Silésia do século 6º, escrita por Melchior Franck, "Ach Tannenbaum". As letras modernas foram escritas em 1824 pelo organista, professor e compositor de Leipzig Ernst Anschütz. Por incrível que pareça, sua origem não está relacionada a árvore decorada para o Natal! O significado era relacionado ao “abeto” (pinheiro) como um símbolo de constância e fidelidade, incentivando as pessoas a se manterem firmes em épocas difíceis, já que é uma das poucas árvores a atravessar o rigoroso inverno sem perder o seu verde. O uso da árvore enfeitada surgiu no decorrer do século 19 e a canção começou a ser cantada como música natalina até que, em 1928, ganhou duas novas estrofes associando a letra definitivamente ao natal. Modern lyrics were written in 1824 by the organist, teacher and composer from Leipzig Ernst Anschütz. Amazingly, its origin is not related to the decorated tree for Christmas! The meaning was related to the evergreen fir tree as a symbol of constancy and loyalty, encouraging people to stand firm in difficult times, since it is one of the few trees going through the harsh winter without losing its green. The use of the decorated tree came during the 19th century and the song began to be sung as Christmas music when, in 1928, won two new stanzas associating the lyrics definitely with the Hollydays season.
