regram @verdigrisensemble We were thrilled to have Chris Hathaway join us at our last event! Christopher M. Hathaway, conductor and singer, is in his second year of doctoral studies pursuing a degree in choral conducting at the University of North Texas. During the 2013-2015 seasons Mr. Hathaway served as the assistant conductor for The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay: the official chorus for the Florida Orchestra. In his position he annually conducted on the Florida Orchestra’s subscription series concerts and lead the premiere of The Master Chorale’s annual composition competition winner. During the 2013-2015 seasons he assisted with the preparation for performances including Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, Faure's Requiem, Ravel's Daphnis and Chloe', Gershwin's Porgy and Bess and Orff's Carmina Burana. Hathaway received his dual Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Vocal performance at The University of South Florida. At USF he conducted the University Chamber Singers, Collegium, and the Collegiate Singers, and assisted the Director of Choral Studies, Dr. James K. Bass. He holds a bachelors degree from Western Michigan University in Music Education where he studied with Dr. Joe Miller. His conducting experience includes a variety of choral ensembles including university, public middle and high school, and church. As an undergraduate student at Western Michigan University, Mr. Hathaway conducted the Collegium Musicum and the university’s flagship choral ensemble the University Chorale. In 2010 he served as the choral director for SEMINAR, Western Michigan University’s two-week intensive summer program for advanced high school singers. Mr. Hathaway has served as a music teacher in the school systems of Kalamazoo and Otsego, Michigan. Choirs under his direction consistently achieved the highest professional ratings at both the district and state levels. In addition to singing several opera roles, Mr. Hathaway attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria and was an auditioned member of the Professional Choral Institute with the GRAMMY nominated vocal ensemble Seraphic Fire. via Instagram http://ift.tt/2sHC0Zp
