They’re called “gospel carols” – traditional Christmas carols with an infusion of soul.
This unique blend of genre and seasonal sounds is the brainchild of Leotha Stanley, the director of the Mt. Zion Gospel Choir in Madison. Stanley says the tunes were some of the first things he wrote when he started writing music. And they’ve served to introduce the decades-old gospel choir to many new fans in recent years.
