Leatherhead Choral Society musical director wins national composers' competitio ( Dorking Advertiser).



A MUCH-LOVED poem by Alfred Tennyson provided the inspiration for the winning piece of new music among 40 UK entries for Cornwall's International Male Voice Choral Festival.

The hotly contested Composers' Competition ended with success for Bookham's Ian Assersohn, with his setting of Tennyson's Crossing The Bar.

A cheque for £1,000 and a silver cup were presented to Mr Assersohn by festival president Michael Galsworthy.
